New York, NY, November 12, 2014 – Reliant, the market leader in virtualized retail application and data security solutions, announced that it has been accredited as a Level 1 PCI Service Provider by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC). Reliant’s compliance with the PCI Data Security Standard (PCIDSS) has been validated by an independent Qualified Security Assessor. Reliant’s status as a Validated Level 1 PCI Service Provider means that customers using Reliant’s Redbox Platform and our secure Redbox Platform Manager cloud-based management system have access to a flexible in-store computing platform that has been independently verified to conform to PCI standards. The Level 1 PCI Service Provider Validation is the highest available PCI-specific certification and is in addition to Reliant’s registered status as a PCI Qualified Integrator and Reseller (QIR) and PCI SSC membership as a Participating Organization.
“Until recently, it was unthinkable to pass a third-party PCI compliance audit with a virtualized, cloud-based technology environment,” according to Mark Weiner, Reliant’s Managing Partner. “PCI DSS version 2.0, the currently enforced version of the Data Security Standard, does provides basic guidance for dealing with virtualization but did not provide any guidance around multi-tenant cloud environments. However recent information supplements, along with the release of PCI DSS 3.0 requirements that will be enforced on January 1, 2015, provide considerably more detail on these topics. Our PCI assessor found that our security and architecture conforms to these leading-edge requirements and verified our compliance.”
PCI DSS continues to be a shared responsibility between merchants and service providers. Under PCI 3.0, merchants face more challenging requirements related to validating not only their own PCI compliance, but that of their service providers. Customers with a need to certify Reliant’s performance against PCI Data Security Standards can now leverage the benefits of Redbox Platform and even simplify their own PCI compliance efforts by relying on Reliant’s status as a Validated Service Provider. Reliant’s validation covers the services that are typically used to manage a cardholder environment including Redbox Platform Manager, Reliant-hosted customer infrastructure, associated remote access of customer sites, and in-store Redbox appliances.
“As Reliant continues to provide value-added services around Redbox Platform, our goal continues to be maintaining the flexibility of the solution to host a wide variety of in-store applications while improving customer self-service and security features. Simplifying the PCI compliance process for our customers is a critical component of this strategy. Our Validated Service Provider status, along with our QIR certification and PCI SSC membership, demonstrates our ongoing commitment to data security compliance,” said Weiner.
Reliant’s Redbox Platform transforms the delivery and support of retail systems through a converged infrastructure solution, which enables a wide range of application, systems and network configurations. The Redbox Platform solution replaces Retail’s traditional, inflexible approach to store systems with an agile model that can be centrally managed across a countless number of stores and eliminates the need for additional dedicated equipment to run each in-store application. As a result, retail executives can keep pace with 21st century customer-engaging applications while keeping costs in control by using this highly flexible and secure architecture.
